My first movie recommendation for those recently broken-up with is (drum roll please)…The Women. The title should give it all away; it’s a film all about the lives of women, four women to be exact. The film literally has no men in it (none), go ahead watch it and you’ll see (not even a man walking down the street)…the perfect breakup film for those who can’t stand the site of a man right now.
The other thing I love about this movie (beside its obvious absence of men), is the fact that it’s all about the value of friendship. Friends truly are one of the most valuable things you can have during a breakup (besides chocolate of course). A friend can be there for you when no one else wants to listen and knows you at your best and your worst.
It also has a pretty kick butt soundtrack (quite girl empowering). I love that there are movies out there that show you that you don’t need a man to make you happy and at the end of the day, what you really need are good friends to surround you that can lift you up when you’re down.
The movie also has a pretty all-star cast including Meg Ryan, Debra Messing, Eva Mendes and Annette Bening, amongst many others. I would recommend this film to any girl going through a breakup because it takes your mind of other “things” and it makes you focus on the important things in life, like friendship.
So, there you have it ladies, get some popcorn, rent a movie and enjoy!
