The holidays, a great time for couples a not so great time for singles…
After a relationship ends, the last thing you want to see are commercials of couples getting engaged or even couples you know getting engaged. It just feels totally wrong and inconsiderate, right?
Well, unfortunately it’s that time of year again; one of the hardest times to be single. Like many others, I too hate seeing all the sappy Zales commercials with the “I love you” in different languages as their significant (abnormally handsome) other hands over a huge diamond ring.
However, Christmas doesn’t have to mean that you have to curl up in the fetal position because you are alone. Not at all. All it means is you get to skip the ugly holiday sweaters (that matched. ew) and avoid the awkward moment where he gets you the one thing you really didn’t want/need and try to pretend you liked it.
The holidays are a time for family to enjoy those around you, who for better or worse, love you no matter what. This time of year may feel lonely but it doesn’t have to be. Why not have a Christmas party with your closest friends or go and visit some family you haven’t seen in a while. You don’t need to be sitting at home drinking eggnog and wishing you could just skip this holiday. I won’t allow it and neither should you!
Give yourself some time off and enjoy this time of year because before you know it you will be back in a relationship with a new (hopefully much better guy) and he will be saying I love you and giving you the ring of your dreams, it just takes a little time.
Until next time, Merry Christmas!
